A prolific painter and reader since childhood, I am also an amateur historian and rare book collector, mother to two daughters, three giant and ill-mannered dogs, three strange cats, five spoiled hens, and a cantankerous garden. It’s from these sources that I draw my inspiration—nature, literature, history, and to satisfy the imaginations of my children.

My own home boasts many murals—large and small, conspicuous and hidden—and yours can as well. At the very least, they are conversation starters. But, more often than not, if you are deep in conversation when you walk past, they cause conversations to veer wildly off course. Let them forget what they were saying as they pause to consider something beautiful and unexpected in your home.
